On Thursday, December 14th, in the Nevada Union boy’s tournament, memorializing Justin Gardner, Nevada Union played against Wheatland high school. They were dominant, coming out with a total score of 71-30.
The game started off strong with a lead, it looked bright for Nevada Union. Starting off with a score of 8-0 in the 1st quarter, with 2 two point shots, and 1 three point shot, all from NU.
Wheatland made a comeback in the 2nd quarter with 28-16, Nevada Union was still in the lead by 12 points.
Coming into the 3rd quarter, the Miner’s were on fire. With a score of 52-30, the Miners came on top of Wheatland with a 22 point difference.
Finally, in the 4th quarter ending with a total score of 71-30. Wheatland made no shots within the quarter and Nevada Union came on top with the win.
Some Miners highlights are the 27 rebounds both offensive and defensive and an equal 17 assists and 17 steals. The Nevada Union Miners really made an impression in the game against Wheatland but ultimately lost the tournament with a score of 58-59 against Rio Linda. Despite this, there is another upcoming tournament at the Kendall Arnett tournament at Placer High school on the 28th.
