The Nevada Union Cross Country team ran their last race of the season on Saturday, November 11, at Willow Hills Reservoir Regional Park in Folsom California. Both the Frosh/Soph and Varsity boys’ teams made it to Sections. Two varsity girls, Eleni Keriotis and Leah Krason, also qualified.

The freshman boys’ team had six runners competing and got sixth place as a team. The athletes were Emmet Hansen, Ezra Rice, Diego Homan, Asher Davis, Kainan Chidley, and Waylon Slavin. Hansen placed sixth in the race with a time of twelve minutes and forty-eight seconds.

The Varsity boys’ team had seven runners competing and got sixth place as a team. The athletes were Joshua Griffin, Rowan Henry, Koen Cayabayab, Charlie La Jeunesse, Ethan McCracken, Erik Von Ruden, and Joshua Tiffany. Griffin placed tenth in the race with a time of sixteen minutes and forty seconds, and Henry crossed the finish line in fourteenth place with a time of seventeen minutes and one second, landing both of them spots in the State Championship on November 25th.

The girls’ varsity team had two runners competing. The two athletes were Eleni Keriotis and Leah Krason. Krason scored third place with a time of nineteen minutes and thirteen seconds, and Keriotis at eighth place with a finish time of nineteen minutes and forty-one seconds. Both athletes qualified for State.

The whole team came out and ran amazing races, finishing the season off strong. Everyone gave their personal best, pushing their limits and contributing crucial points to the team’s overall score. These outstanding performances reflected all of their commitments and continuous improvements they had throughout the year. The accomplishments of the team serve as a testament to the dedication and hard work they have put in. Their achievements not only highlighted their talents but also underscored the collective strength of the team as they competed against the top-tier schools in the region.

To Josh, Rowan, Eleni, and Leah – I’m so proud of all four of you for making such a large and difficult goal possible by making it to state. I wish you guys luck and that you will be able to pull out the same if not equal strength and speed during State as you did at Sections. I thank everyone for the great season and everyone pushing each other to try harder and to go after their personal goals. All of the improvements this year are only going to become larger starting next season. I can’t wait to see what we will accomplish and what goals we will be able to achieve.
