On April 9, Nevada Union’s boys varsity volleyball team won their home game against Ponderosa by a score of 3-1.
This game was Nevada Union’s second league game, walking in with an overall season score of 10-6, 2nd in Foothill Valley League. Ponderosa entered the game with 5-8 overall season, 5th in the league. The Miners just came back from a win and were wanting more.
Nevada Union came in hot and won the first set 25-17. Ponderosa put up some momentum and started scoring more points, making them win the second set 24-26.
That loss made them pick up their game and win the third set 25-21. Heading into the 4th set the Miners knew they had to fight really hard for this win and did so with the score 25-11.
Some player hihglights; Bodey Elkema (12) and Wyatt Fowler (11) both came out with 11 kills on Ponderosa. Jake Haut (12) topped with 4 aces, Carter Figuly (12) leader of 4 blocks, and the libero Nathan Pinneo (12) with 7 digs. All of this team work made the final score 3-1, with Nevada Union coming on top.
