Leap Day is an event that only happens one day every 4 years on February 29th. To celebrate the rare day, the
Executive Council class at Nevada Union High School made hopscotch games along the school walkways to symbolize the “leap” in leap year. By drawing these games on the ground in chalk, or laying them out with tape, the Executive Council created an entertaining and pun-related way to celebrate the 2024 Leap Day.
We interviewed Augie Gammelgard, who is a Freshman Representative for student council. This is what she told us about the games around school:
Q: Who put up the hopscotch chalk that’s around the school?
A: Executive council.
Q: Why did you guys decide to do this today?
A: Because it’s a leap year, so it’s promoting school spirit at our school!
Happy Leap Year, everyone. See you again in four years!
