The hype. The price. The features. It’s everywhere.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max just released and it’s now the big thing in the tech world currently and seems it will be all the talk for a long time. If you are interested in purchasing it anytime soon, well sorry to say, but good luck.
After all of the preorders (which started on September 15th) that were made before the phone’s release on the 22nd, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is completely sold out at every authorized dealer and estimated shipping times are now backed up like crazy, going all the way into late November if you ordered the phone today.
As someone who personally preordered the iPhone 15 Pro Max only one day after the preorder launched, to my amazement, only two of the four color options were still available, and on top of that, my order was backed up until the beginning of October because there was such a high demand for the phone.
But there is more than just the demand for the phone, right? More than just the bad news? I’m glad to say that yes, there is more than that. The iPhone 15 lineup all have amazing upgrades on the previous generations that make it worth the long wait!
So what does the iPhone 15 bring that is new? Luckily, it brings lots of cool things. Most people would think the cameras and performance would be the only thing improved, but I’m glad to say that isn’t the case!
The Amazing Design
Instead of the heavy and more uncomfortable shape and build of the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the 15 Pro Max has new rounded corners, thinner borders for an even more edge-to-edge display, and most importantly- titanium. The new iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max have titanium frames, and titanium is a very premium and amazing metal. This new titanium frame leads to the phone being eight to ten percent lighter than the previous generation, and everyone who is familiar with the older iPhone’s design and weight says that the iPhone 15 Pro Max feels like an even bigger weight difference than the actual numbers, which is amazing. Also, in general, everyone says that the phone is much more comfortable to hold with its rounded corners and premium build, which I can confirm!
The Powerful A17 Pro Chip
Apple every year comes out with a new “chip” in their higher-end (flagship) phones. This year, Apple has released its very first “Pro” chip, the A17 Pro. The new chip is said to be twice as fast as Apple’s previous chip, the A16. The A17 Pro makes better-improved performance for AI tasks and better photo/video optimizations. There is a lot more to say about the new chip, but I won’t get into the super techy stuff at all as that’s not what we’re here for.
Those Crazy Cameras
Apple every year improves the cameras on their phones, especially their Pro and Pro Max models, but this year, Apple has made the first-ever difference in the Pro and Pro Max models besides a larger screen and larger battery. The Pro Max has a pretty big camera improvement over the regular Pro, which is the zoom lens. The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 5x telephoto lens and makes the camera(s) be able to work as if it was a lens on a professional camera. If you get the 15 Pro, it will only have a basic 3x zoom lens.
That Storage
The 15 Pro has four storage options, which are 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 terabyte (TB). The new thing about the 15 Pro Max is that only three of the four options are available, which are 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB. This means that if you want the Pro Max this year, you are going to have to get at least twice the storage as normal. For content creators, this will be a very good way to force them to get enough storage for their projects before realizing they are going to run out. That is if you want to think about it in a creative way.
The Fancy Display
Last year, Apple released the first large improvement over the “notch” by introducing the “Dynamic Island”, which was a smaller version of the notch but was also interactive. This year’s phones still have the same dynamic island, but also thinner borders around the display than any previous iPhone, making the phone’s screen practically edge-to-edge. The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models have a twice as fast scrolling/swiping rate than the older or non-flagship models too, introducing 120 Hz versus the basic 60 Hz, making the phone much smoother. Same as last year, the display’s resolution is second to none and looks amazing!
CONCLUSION
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is far from a disappointment and has some long-awaited features including USB-C charging, an even more professional camera, a crazy good chip, and an amazing design. I would recommend upgrading to an iPhone 15 Pro Max if you love the Pro Max models and have an iPhone 12 Pro Max or older. If you haven’t had a “Pro Max” iPhone before, then think about the price and features, and if they would work for you and would fit your needs. In most people’s cases, the Pro and Pro Max are overkill, but for heavy users and photographers, it’s the best of the best and a no-brainer. As someone who personally upgraded from an iPhone SE, it was a huge upgrade I was very excited to take!
